Summertime in Florida is hot and sticky, even here in Downtown St. Pete, aka DTSP, with the cooling breezes off the gulf and bay. So when I can, I escape to somewhere else. Not a vacation, which implies NOT working. Traveling is how I describe it. I know, whaaaa poor me! See we created a digital system to run NOVA 535, my historic wedding and event venue, remotely. NOVA is where most every (physical) Entrepreneur Social Club (ESC) meeting is held. So this week, July 21, 2016, When the Cat was away the mice did play. Play, well mainly some “forgot” to show up for our weekly Thursday night ESC meeting. I mean we’ve only been holding these EVERY THURSDAY night since February 2009. Some habits take longer to sink in I guess…haha! Though some of my favorite meetings have been when there are under 20 guests; it allows for much deeper discussions than where our table is overflowing with 50 and more. Tonight big

We always pass around and review business cards. Cards, to me, are a boiled down expression of your business. Is it beautifully clear as to exactly what you do? Or is it an unprofessional mess? We offer VERY FRANK advice on how to fix you cards, all the way to fixing your (business) life. Just NO religion nor politics allowed here.
I’ll give a proper shout out to those who did show up and brave our summer heat, though inside NOVA 535 is always cool and refreshing. See we completely renovated NOVA, originally a 1920 5 and dime store, and when we replaced the roof (completely down to new wood, paper, etc., not the “add a roof over the existing bad roof BS many places do”) we included FOUR inches of ISO board. This is a heavy duty insulator that goes between the paper and the roof product; in fact we doubled the 2″ that is recommended. The roofers were “we’ve never done THAT before” and I said “Welcome to NOVA!” So now our venue is insulated like an Igloo cooler, plus of course our multiple 3 phase HVAC systems and 12′ (yes 12 foot) diameter Big Ass Fan, NOVA is chilling!

Since I wasn’t there this week and Audrey had to leave early, I don’t know where dinner was (we always eat at one of our excellent local DTSP restaurants, plus continue drinking, laughing, learning; digging into much deeper conversations and deal making.) nor do I know about the after dinner drinks…maybe at Ruby Elixir’s Jazz Club or possibly the infamous after-after party??
