Birthday Gaming with Pinball and Mr Do at the TI Fun Center
I’m a gamer at heart, though these days my gaming is expressed solely here in the real world, via social media and event planning. I was born in 1968 so was just a lad when the first PCs came out, the Atari 800 and Macintosh, Commodore 64, etc along with video arcades, populated with the likes of Atari and Nintendo games. I spent a LOT OF $$, one quarter at a time, avoiding flashing monsters, plants begin dropped on my head and incoming missile strikes.
April 1, 2015, is my 47th birthday, yes I’m a proper FOOL, and I was invited to join my brother Chris and his son Christopher, for Birthday Gaming with Pinball and Mr Do at the TI Fun Center. A business we’ve been supporting for decades, except now it’s out in Seminole – same name TI Fun Center, different address. Good thing is that it’s STILL AWESOME and provided a delightful afternoon for all generations of gamers.
Mr. Do! was created in 1982 by Universal and is very similar to Namco’s Dig Dug video game. In the haze of decades old memories, I thought they were one in the same. It’s a fun, lighthearted game that is much more challenging that first appears. Pinball is a true love of mine, and it was the first thing I hit upon after exchanging a $20 for a pocket full of tokens. ATTACK FROM MARS ATTACKS was a perennial fav and it was there, hungry for my tokens. I didn’t do well as the machine was not level, and the most used ball return resulted continuously in that horrible…..DRAIN-O. That slight off-balanceness wasn’t helped by the old business card folded under the leg routine, either, so after about a quick $5, I made my way around to find Chris and lil Christopher.
I wanted to say THANKS to my incredible brother Chris for the invitation and to the people at the “TI” Fun Center (in Seminole) for keeping the tradition alike and well. If you enjoy a great time with family and friends, go visit them and have some FUN. PS Gaming is great for a healthy mind!
